Saint Ives to Huntingdon Great River Ouse & Houghton Mill
Details
A most beautiful 10 mile walk in Cambridgeshire along the Great River Ouse to Houghton Mill from Saint Ives and then back to Huntingdon through the many watermeadows and the oddly named Godmanchester!
We shall first explore Holt Island Nature Reserve a delightful quiet oasis that houses much wildlife and birds in medieval tranquil market town of Saint Ives that has a 15th century stone bridge with a chapel attached.
Lets go with the flow!
Please arrive by 9.05am as to facilitate the purchase of group train tickets for the 9.46am train that arrives at Huntingdon at 10.50am.
Train ticket : Return to Huntington
Or you may decide to drive.
We shall then take B the bus way bus at 11.20am to Langley Close in Saint Ives.
Meetup fee £8 payable in cash or £6 by Friday in advance by bank transfer, details available upon request.
Walk will commence by noon.
Please bring packed lunch, water, snacks etc along with waterproof jacket and walking shoes / trainers.
We shall spend lunch time in Saint Ives.
We shall stop for around 20 mins by wonderful Houghton Mill and Cafe during the afternoon.
Only sign up for this walk if you can comfortably walk 2.5 miles per hour and you should have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity.
We shall have a drink near the end of the walk at Godmanchester.
Likely train back at 5.10pm.
