(Bus hike) Wildflower Hike IV: Long hikers will pass thru an area that has one of the greatest concentration of pink ladyslippers, as well of numerous other wildflowers. All hikers wil begin from the Pinnacles Overlook.
Long hikers will descend Hannah Run, take the Catlett Mountain Trail, Hazel Mountain Trail, Hazel River, and White Rocks Trail. They will then return to the Hazel Mountain Trail to ascend to Skyline Drive, cross the road, ascend on the Meadow Springs Trail to the AT, and take the AT to the Pinnacles picnic area. (Est: 12 miles, 3100' elevation )Moderate hikers will descend the Hannah Run Trail to take the Catlett Spur and Hazel Mountain Trails. They will then follow the long hike route to the Pinnacles picnic area. and 8 miles, 1950' elevation.

(Trailhead hike) Brookside Gardens is one of the hidden gems of the DC metro area. It is perhaps at its most colorful during the spring. Both hikes start at the Brookside Gardens Visitor Center and proceed through the Gardens to the Wheaton Park Nature Center. From there the moderate hikers take the Equestrian Loop Trail to the intersection of the Northwest Branch Trail. They will follow the west side of the Branch downstream to Route 29 (Colesville Rd.), turn left on the Road and then left onto the Rachel Carson Trail following the east bank of Northwest Branch upstream, joining the Wheaton Park Equestrian Trail and route back to the Brookside Nature Center. Long hikers follow the moderate route except at the Nature Center they take 3.5 miles of assorted wooded trails through Wheaton Park before joining the Northwest Branch Trail. (Bus hike) This section of the Massanutten Trail goes mainly along the ridge of Powell Mountain, providing many views of Fort Valley to the east and of the breathtaking Seven Bends region (a series of oxbows along the Shenandoah River) to the west. Moderate hikers will start from Woodstock Tower (taking a brief side trail to ascend the tower itself) and continue south on the Massanutten Trail past a hang glider launch site and a few other overlook points, ending at the parking area for Edinburgh Gap. Long hikers will first ascend via the Mine Gap Trail to the Massanutten Trail, turn left to head towards Woodstock Tower, and continue along the moderate hiker route. (Trailhead hike) Sweet Run State Park is the most recently created state park in West Virginia. It contains a network of trails over gentle, rolling terrain, chiefly meadow and field, with the ruins of old farms and a sizeable pond. All hikers will go in a loop along the various trails within the park. Long hikers will in addition take an unofficial but well-cleared connector trail to the Appalachian Trail and go there-and-back for a mile each way. (Bus hike) This hike will take us on a section of the AT with numerous rolling hills and panoramic overlooks, eventually going past the historic Carlisle Iron Works Furnace and ending at Boiling Springs, notable for the its high incidence of 19th-century architecture and the lovely Children's Pond. Long hikers start where the AT crosses Pine Grove Rd near Tag Run Campground. Moderate hikers start where the AT crosses Route 94. - Hike: Robertson Mountain, Corbin Hollow, and Corbin Mtn., SNP, VAOld Rag Parking (Ranger Station), Etlan, VA$5.00
(Trailhead hike) Spectacular views from the top of the mountain await hardy souls as reward for the steep 1800 feet climb. From Nethers, both hikes ascend the Weakley Hollow Fire Road before ascending steeply on the Robertson Mountain Trail to the mountain summit. After coming down on the other side of the mountain, moderate hikers take the Corbin Hollow Trail and Weakley Hollow Fire Road to the bus. Meanwhile, long hikers take the Old Rag Fire Road, Corbin Mountain Trail, and Nicholson Hollow Trail to the bus. Hikers that want to avoid the rigors of Robertson Mountain have the option of going up on the Corbin Hollow Trail and down on the Old Rag and Weakley Hollow Fire Roads for a circuit of 9 miles.
