Join us for an unforgettable paddle through the glowing waters of Laguna Grande, one of only a few places in the world where the ocean actually lights up at night. Tiny plankton called dinoflagellates produce a natural blue glow when disturbed — creating a breathtaking, otherworldly experience as you glide through the water.
This 4:30 PM departure is ideal for those who are already comfortable in a kayak and prefer a slightly later start. You’ll navigate through peaceful mangrove tunnels under the stars and into the open lagoon, where every movement of your paddle sets the water shimmering with light.
Important Details:
• You must be able to swim
• Two-person double kayaks
• Waiver required for all participants
• Bring bug repellent
• Maximum weight 250 lbs per person
• Expect to get wet from the waist down
• Pregnant women may not participate
• Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted and will still be charged
• The brightness of the bioluminescence depends on nature — weather, tide, and moonlight all play a role
• Tours operate in light rain; canceled only for severe weather or Coast Guard warnings
