Mtg & Talk: Observing Exoplanet Host Stars with AAVSO and NASA Exoplanet Watch

The Warren Astronomical Society meets monthly on the third Thursday in Room 208 in the "E" building at Macomb Community College, 14500 E 12 Mile Road, Warren, MI, 48088.

We do a bit of club business early on, then have a major presentation usually put together by one of our members.

Observing Exoplanet Host Stars with AAVSO and NASA Exoplanet Watch

Kalée will explain how observers can contribute valuable exoplanet transit data and analysis to NASA Exoplanet Watch even without owning a telescope. There is currently a special call for simultaneous ground-based observations of Pandora targets (both during and out of transit), and she will share information about the Pandora mission and the observations that are needed.
About the Speaker
Kalée started a PhD program for Chemistry but decided to stop with a master's degree when she realized that she liked teaching more than research. She completed a second master's degree in Learning, Design and Technology, and now teaches science at Stanford Online High School. Her special passion is designing science experiments, some of the best ideas for which have come straight out of the lab notebooks of her curious and creative students, and has launched four high-altitude balloons. She also has a wonderful family including her husband and three children.
