Mtg & Talk: Teaching Astronomy without Math
Details
Notice: Tonight's in-person meeting is cancelled due to smoke haze issues. The meeting will be online only.
We do a bit of club business early on, then have a major presentation usually put together by one of our members.
We simulcast meetings online using Zoom. Meetup charges even more money to set up hybrid meetings, so subscribe to our email list on warrenastro.org to get the Zoom links! Meetings are also livestreaming on our YouTube channel.

Teaching Astronomy without Math
By Bob Trembley
Bob Trembley has been into astronomy since he was a child; he took an astronomy class in high school, and was disappointed with it. All he remembers of that class is doing a lot of trigonometry, when he was expecting to learn about the wonders of the cosmos. In this presentation, Bob will show how astronomy is an amazing interdisciplinary field of science that bridges multiple different areas of human knowledge.
About the Speaker
Bob Trembley joined the WAS in 2011, and has held several board positions over the years: president, first-VP, outreach and newsletter. Bob is a volunteer NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, and works as a factotum for the Vatican Observatory Foundation doing a number of different jobs. Bob is a huge science fiction fan, and an asteroid fanatic. One of Bob's goals is to see astronomy taught better in U.S. schools.
