Mt Timpanogos(Provo)

We will hike Mount Timpanogos from the Timpooneke trail.

Distance: 14.8 mil

Classification: class 4

Elevation gain: 4,389 ft

Elevation start:7371ft

Elevation at Peak:11,749ft

Configuration: Out and back

Time: 10 to 13 hours

Access: American Fork Canyon (Timpooneke Campground)

This is Utah most popular summit hike, it is not unusual to have 700 to 1000 hikers headed to the peak from the two trail heads. The trail will lead you past alpine lakes, cascading waterfalls, and flowering meadows. This is not a hike you want to miss. I will be taking a lunch stop at the 8,500ft level in the Timponogos basin for at least 30min to 45min to get acclimated for the hike to the summit.

Directions: Take I-15 to American Fork Utah exit Highland/Alpine (exit 284). Head east on UT-92 18 miles to Timpooneke trail head and campround or 19mil to Salamander flat campground

We will be hiking as a group and making stops as needed. This hike will be at a moderate pace (not slow, not fast).

If you're a fast hiker and want to run ahead with no regards for others, then this hike is not for you.

Also, if you're slow and you hold up the group this hike is not for you.

Again, remember this is a group activity. If you want to do your own thing, this hike is not for you. Please be considerate of the group as a whole.

Please, do not cut switchbacks. Doing so will ruin the trail and the environment.
