About us
The Waterford Tech Meetup is a chance to connect with (and learn from) like-minded people to discuss wide ranging topics of a technical nature. We meet on the second Thursday of every month (excluding some summer months) with the aim to have 1 or 2 talks, with ample time for socialising.

Venue: Waterford Treasures Museum (X91 K10E)Join us for our next Tech Meetup at the Waterford Treasures Museum. The evening will feature engaging technical talks, networking, food and drinks, and spot prizes, with a focus on practical challenges shaping today’s technology landscape.
Speaker 1: Gary Meehan (Teamwork.com)
Gary builds AI agents at Teamwork.com, where he works on Teammates, a suite of agents designed to solve everyday business problems such as meeting notes, project health checks and client updates.
Previously, he was co-founder and CTO of Retrograde, an AI-powered talent agency, and a founding engineer at Axe, where he applied agentic AI to logistics operations. He also spent six years at Distilled, working on major platforms including DoneDeal, Daft, Adverts and Gumtree.
Gary is the creator of Next SEO, founder of WhereToAI.com, and organiser of the Wexford Tech Meetup. He regularly writes about AI tools, developer workflows and practical applications of LLMs and agentic systems.
Tech Talk: Glitch - The AI Coding Teammate
Meet Glitch: Teamwork.com's internal AI coding teammate.
Gary will show how Glitch investigates bugs, traces features through multiple repos, runs security audits and the journey to get it to it current version.
Speaker 2: Conor O'Neill (ServisBOT)
Conor has spent decades shouting at computers and failing to compile Open Source tools. But along the way he has build some useful and interesting projects and products in companies like S3, Integral Design, EMC, FeedHenry, NearForm and now ServisBOT. Some of the things he's most proud of include the NodeConf EU badges, his range of terrible RSS converters and building Web2Ireland back in the day. When he's not talking about AI, Open Source or IOT, you can usually find him ankle deep in mud, running slowly on Irish trails and mountains.

Tech Talk: OpenClaw and the Second-Hand Silicon Squad
Now that the hype and drama have died down, are there practical safe uses for OpenClaw, Hermes Agent and the other "Personal AI Assistants"? What happens when you combine OpenClaw, a growing menagerie of AI agents, some battle-worn local GPUs, and a collection of surprisingly capable small Qwen models? In this talk, I’ll share the fun, failures, and occasional successes involved in building my own local agent ecosystem. It’s a tour of practical agentic AI, proving that you don’t always need a shiny new GPU cluster or datacenter to build something useful. Sometimes a few old graphics cards, good open models, and a slightly unreasonable amount of curiosity are more than enough.
