Jan 2023 - Building an MVP & Improving Microservices Reliability in the Cloud

Details

Waterford Tech Meetup will be celebrating the new year with two fantastic tech talks from Seoid and Dean. Please join us on Tuesday the 10th of January at 7pm at Waterford Treasures Museum (X91 K10E) for food, drinks and mental stimulation.

Speaker 1: Seoid Ní Laoire from Conjura

Tech Talk: Building a minimum viable data product.

Ever wondered how to build a SaaS product from the ground up? What tools and technologies would you use? What kind of team would you need? How can you build quickly, but safely?

In this talk, Seoid will walk us through how she and her colleagues at Conjura built their SaaS product. She will explore their data stack (dbt, airbyte, snowflake, AWS) and their architecture. She'll be sharing tips and trips; talking through what worked, what didn’t work, and other lessons learned along the way.

Speaker 2: Dean Gaffney from Servisbot

Tech Talk: Improving Microservice Reliability in the Cloud

Microservice communication can be difficult. It can be even more difficult when you have no control over the network your applications communicate over or the services your application needs to communicate with.

Dean will bring us through ServisBOT's approach to improving network reliability within an AWS environment. He will guide us through the journey of how ServisBOT initially discovered a number of network reliability issues, how they tackled them, and how they are continuing to deal with similar issues today. During his talk Dean will go through a number of adjustments to HTTP requests in node.js that can have a big impact on network performance.
