Speaker 2: Ray Carroll & Clodagh Walsh

Ray Carroll is a Senior Principal Engineer in the Emerging Technology sector, working across multiple EU Horizon research projects in the area of Cloud-Edge and Multi-Cloud computing. Ray has a background in academic research, completing his PhD before moving to industry and taking up various roles, including Software Engineer, Research Architect, and Technical Architect.

Clodagh is an associate research software engineer working on Horizon EU projects focused on the cloud and edge. She studied Computer Systems at the University of Limerick and completed her internship at Intel Shannon as part of her course. She enjoys sharing her passion for technology by volunteering at her local CoderDojo club, teaching children to code.

Tech Talk: Taking OpenShift to the Edge

Kubernetes (and OpenShift) have become the defacto platform of choice for cloud-based applications and services, so it is only natural that with the rise of Edge and Cloud-Edge computing, that these technologies should evolve to play a key role in supporting this paradigm. However the range of edge device types and capabilities leaves a huge space to be explored for solutions and technologies that could be applied. We will walk you though a selection of these, as well as some new technologies that we are developing to further support managing and deploying applications at the edge.
