What we’re about
At its simplest, mindfulness just means to pay attention, a little more closely, deliberately and consciously than we habitually might. It’s not complicated, and is a skill that can be developed with practice and instruction. Mindfulness is nothing new, it has been around for thousands of years and is a natural ‘human state’. It helps us to see more clearly the patterns of the mind, connect with our body and enables us to stay in the present moment, rather than reliving the past or pre-living the future.
For decades now, scientific research has been showing how useful Mindfulness practices are for reducing stress, anxiety and depression. Studies have demonstrated that participating in a Mindfulness-based Intervention program can help people manage a wide range of physical conditions, improve general well-being, and increase joy. You don’t need to be religious or spiritual to learn to practise mindfulness and reap the benefits, it isn’t only useful if you’re feeling stressed or have a mental health problem – it can help all of us enjoy a more wakeful, healthier, happier life.
Mindful Herts has successfully introduced mindfulness practices in Hertfordshire communities, schools and work places, by offering:
• A regular monthly silent/guided practice group for anyone interested in Mindfulness.
• 8 week courses to introduce Mindfulness, taught in an accessible and enjoyable way
• M.B.S.R Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction 8 week course
• 1 to 1 Awareness coaching

What recent participants have to say about the introduction course;
Absolutely brilliant introduction to mindfulness - with a mixture of teaching methods, interactive and fascinating. I think everyone should do this course! Mel is a very experienced teacher who walks the walk of mindfulness wonderfully. A real role model for anyone wanting to learn how to be more present and able to cope with busy minds.
Thank you Mel for your recent 8 week Mindfulness course which I attended in Watford! I enjoyed your passion, creativity and enthusiasm along with the great visuals and notes, making it all easy to understand and giving us all inspiration to follow through the valuable practice.
This course was fantastic! Mel is a brilliant and inspiring teacher with a lot of excellent methods to help to impart some new ways of thinking and 'being'. It very quickly helped me to calm my mind and connect with my body - I will continue with this always.
