What we're about

We are a mid-week walking club in Yorkshire, for folk who enjoy walking, socialising and, above all, having fun. Formed in 1979 we now have over 120 active members.

Our club welcome adults of all ages and background to join our friendly and welcoming mid-week walking groups. We have 6 different groups doing walks from 3 miles to 8 or 10 Monday to Thursday every week. Some walks are accessed by public transport and for others its best by car to the start point.

You will see most of our walks announced each week on Meetup for the following couple of weeks.

Alternatively, you can access our full details and schedule of future walks on our web site https://seniorwayfarers.org.uk/ for more details. For our weekly schedule of walks only go to https://seniorwayfarers.org.uk/walks.html

1. Monday 8 milers
2. Tuesday afternoon 5 milers
3. Tuesday afternoon 4 to 5 milers
4. Wednesday 3 to 4 milers
5. Thursday 8 milers
6. Thursday 8 to 10 milers

Walks for the above groups can be accessed from Walking Schedules: https://www.seniorwayfarers.org.uk/walks.html

We run occasional coach trips to walks outside the immediate area. Also, we have an annual holiday usually in September to Arnside for the walking group members.
Details can be found at www.seniorwayfarers.org.uk. and at Walking Holiday Arnside 2022: https://www.meetup.com/wayfarers-mid-week-walking-group/pages/32250398/Walking_Holiday_in_Arnside_2022/

Should you want to 'dip your toe in' and try one of our walks the first 3 are free. After that we would ask you to become an annual member which costs £10, and this also includes you in full membership of the CHA who run weekend bus trips for walks.

Should you just want to join us for the occasional day then its £1 to help cover our costs.

Being a mid-week walking group the walks tend to appeal to retired people or people with flexible working days.

Whoever you are when you join us you will be made very welcome.
