Details

### This is one of a series of walks which are being organised by different walking groups in Bradford. It is to celebrate 25 years since the inception of The Bradford Millenium Way and also to celebrate Bradford as the City of Culture 2025.

### You are very welcome to join us We are hoping for a large turnout and are organising walks in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions.

Start time and projected finish time: 10.30am with an expected return around 3pm.

Public transport: Bus service Keighley to Laycock every half hour

Start and finish point:

Laycock Village Hall
What3words: paths.nests.wheels
Grid Reference: SE031409

Distance: 7.5 miles

Brief Description:

The walk starts in Laycock, at the Village Hall, and takes the road and path towards Newsholme Dean. We then follow Broad Head Lane and meet the actual Millenium Way path in open moorland. We follow this path to Keighley Moor reservoir and then follow the road down to Morkin Bridge. We cross Slippery ford (fortunately there is now a bridge) and aim back towards Newton Dean via Grey Stones Farm and Bottom Farm . We then proceed downhill to Goose Eye and finally a climb back up to Laycock.

Difficulty: The route is fairly straightforward for most of the way but between Grey Stones Farm and Bottom Farm the path is very narrow and awkward, with a steep slope down one side.

Clothing: Appropriate clothing and footwear should be worn. Boots are strongly recommended

Food: Bring a packed lunch and a drink.

Parking
There is very limited parking in Laycock and it would help if you could share transport with a friend. There is also limited parking in Laycock Primary School car park

Laycock Village Hall
The village hall in Laycock will be open before the start of the walk.
Walkers are welcome to use the toilet facilities before and after the walk.
Refreshments will be on sale in the hall.

Cost: It is a condition of the group`s Public Liability Insurance Policy that non members are charged £1 each for joining a walk.
This gives temporary membership of the Wayfarers for one day.

Dogs are not allowed on this walk
