About us
Art is not the exclusive property of those who have, and it must not be separated from life. Art is part of our lives, and it is a window that shows how we are living. We do not make art to be understood, but to exist. The countless aspects of our existence, which cannot be confined to a single form, meet other ways of being through fierce critical awareness and sincere questions. We work to stay alive, and we gather to communicate with someone. That is the way in which ‘Ways of Being’ exists.
Creating art can be quite solitary, and it's sometimes hard to stay motivated on our own.
Let's make art—whatever form it takes!
The best work is the work that excites you!

Where Is My Home?
Misajang, 43-2 Namyeong-dong, Yongsan-gu,, Seoul, KRWays of Being 그룹은 2026년 10월 10일 “Where Is My Home?”
Ways of Being is preparing a group exhibition on the theme “Where Is My Home?” on October 10, 2026. What does “home” mean to you? Many artists work with the theme of home. Among them, the artist who has drawn the most attention this year is Do Ho Suh, who is currently exhibiting at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. For an artist who has continued working all around the world, what exactly was “home”? I hope you’ll see the answer with your own eyes.
In contemporary art, what matters most is not meticulous brushwork, a lineage that resembles someone else’s paintings, or likeness—how closely it resembles the real thing. It’s about conveying your thoughts through the medium you choose. It simply means using various media—beyond language—such as color and form, video or sound, and matter or gestures, to express what you want to say.
So what is “home” to you? Please tell your story using the medium you want to work with. It can be a finished piece or just an idea. It can be a video or a sketch—anything is welcome. We’ll spend about an hour making work using the tools you’re comfortable with, and as always, we’ll use the remaining time to present and share our stories.
P.S. Unfortunately, the exhibition on October 10–11 will feature works prepared by the people who had already committed. You can visit the venue over the two days to view the finished works. The exhibition will be held in a small hanok in Bukchon. We will share the location only with those who wish to attend.
