What we're about

This is the group for you!

Book and Cranny is the most fun you can have between the covers... of a book! We're a book club in Manchester for 27-40 year olds (except for Stuart - the Goose to my Maverick) and we meet once a month (usually the 3rd Monday of the month).

If you're new to Manchester, want to read more, fancy a good chat with a bunch of bloody excellent people and enjoy a laugh (caveat - we don't take ourselves too seriously!) then what are you waiting for... get yourself to Book and Cranny.

Everyone is welcome! Now in our 5th year we've got a lovely group of regulars (and often meet up socially - opera, theatre, drinking and most importantly QUIZ NIGHTS!) and we always welcome newbies. We love newbies. They're our favourite.

So what do we read? Well nothing is ever off limits. We've read the good, the bad and the downright horrendous - including poetry, graphic novels, autobiographies etc. We always pick the following months book at the meet-up and work to a vote system (so come prepared with a suggestion for next month).

Please only attend if you are on the "going" list and have prepaid your £2. We take a register at the start of each meeting and those who are not on the "going" list will be asked to leave (sorry!).

I’m very proud that we have raised over £3,000 for the local charity Mustard Tree - if you'd like to donate then please follow the link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bookcranny

Come on in, the waters lovely.

BOOK CLUB: Poetry Special!

Monday nights are rubbish... But wait, they don't have to be!

From the comfort of your own home you can partake in a chat about books, life and no doubt the weather (this is Manchester after all!)

What are we reading?
We're waiting for Mark to confirm...

Let's make poetry more accessible - everyone is clever enough to read and discuss poetry! Super small group will mean everyone has a chance to put forward their views. This will be more a chance for us to chat (rather than me hosting) - so come with some thoughts. NO JUDGEMENT!

We're a very relaxed and friendly book club so please join in and don't worry if you haven't read the book, watched the film... or cheated and read the wiki page.

We'll stay as long as we still have things to say (planning on 1 hour for the poetry meet-up) and pick next months book with a vote so come prepared with suggestions.

The £2 fee goes towards paying for the MeetUp subscription and any additional dollar, dollar will be donated to the local Manchester charity - Mustard Tree. If you would like to donate to this very worthy charity then please follow this link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bookcranny

Please only attend if you are "going" and have prepaid your £2.

The £2 fee is non-refundable and non-exchangeable. If you can no longer attend please change your attendance to "not going" so someone else can take the spot.

Hope to see you there and any questions just give me a shout.

BOOK CLUB: Leonard and hungry Paul ~ Ronan Hession

Monday nights are rubbish... But wait, they don't have to be!

What are we reading? A disarming novel that asks a simple question: Can gentle people change the world?

We're a very relaxed and friendly book club so please join in.

Tickets sell out quickly! Sorry, there’s nothing we can do about that - we sometimes get cancellations closer to the day of the event so check back if you’ve missed out.
Unfortunately, Meetup don’t offer the option for a waiting list for this type of event - tickets are on a first come basis.

We'll stay as long as we still have things to say (usually around 2 hours) and pick next months book with a vote so come prepared with suggestions.
