Beginner Birding at Santee Lakes

Birdwatching, but make it queer!

Learn the basics of birding during this stroll around Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, where over 200 species of birds live, laugh, and love. This beginner birding adventure will be guided by our favorite local birder, Kayleigh Hernandez!

What To Bring

• Binoculars (optional, but helpful!) - available at many SD libraries with the Trailblazer Backpack!
• Sunscreen and sun protection
• No dogs please - they scare away the birds

We'll meet in front of the General Store. Free street parking is available along Lake Canyon Road and paid parking is available within the park.
