Volunteering at Inside Books Project
Details
This is one of my favorite activities! I can only get reservations for a small group, so I'll continue to host this to get more people a chance to participate!
Impact: We’ll answer letters from people in Texas prisons by picking 2–3 books and adding a short note, sending a package that becomes their next books to read. IBP ships 35,000+ free books a year, powered by volunteers.
What we’ll do: open requests → choose books to fit the letter → write a brief note about why we chose them → pack/label for mailing.
Logistics: 6:00–8:30 PM. *Please be on-time for a mandatory short orientation*
Wear/bring: Since we'll be starting at 6, ideally grab a snack beforehand or bring it there. Water is good too. Optionally: any books you don't want anymore, donate them!
Afterwards: Depending on how everyone feels after, we sometimes get tacos or ice cream nearby!
