Moving Beyond the Patriarchy-An Online Invocation with Dance

Feeling the energy of current events? Let’s gather and move it through our bodies, and the collective, together!

During this time of this New Moon, let's set some intentions with moving our bodies and our psyches thru dance/shaking/rocking/swaying, invoking the death of Patriarchy and birthing what is coming forth.

Patriarchy derives from a Greek word meaning, “Rule of the Father”. The rule of the patriarchy refers to a social system where men disproportionately control social, economic, political, religious and legal power. Power and property are typically exchanged through inheritance from male offspring. While characteristics of patriarchy differ geographically and culturally, patriarchy is the primary governing rule, planetary wide … and it has been the governing rule for
thousands of years.

Don’t you think it’s time for a change? We will open the online circle with intention within community, then we will play a 30 minute evocative soundscape created by Quynn specifically for this event. The sounds of drum, rattle, nature sounds and rhythmic beats guide us through holding space for us to feel the gentle death of patriarchy, and then holding space for us to imagine what we are birthing.

Each person moves their body how it wants to move and we can have our cameras on or off. After the sound segment there is time for sharing within the group. We close with a prayer for gentle navigation through this transition.
