If you've ever driven on Rte 89 in Kaysville after dark during the holiday season, you've seen the giant lit-up star on the mountain. This hike will take us up there to see it up close. The hike has some uphill at the beginning, but then it is an easy walk to the star. After checking out the lights, we will continue hiking to an overlook with views of Bair Canyon. We return the same way for a total distance of 3.1 miles and 526' elevation gain.

The Kaysville star has been a tradition since the late 1950's. It is 60 ft wide and has 75 lights. The lights are not connected to any power source. Each day, volunteers have to refuel the generator up on the mountain.

Advanced option after this hike is finished is to climb Ed's Peak/ Kaysville plane crash site up to the snow line. The trails intersect near the gun range.
