Ontario (Avila) Ridge

We will be hiking up, up, up, to the top of Ontario (Avila) Ridge where we hope to enjoy sweeping ocean views and maybe find a hidden swing or two amongst the oak trees. This will be a loop hike and we will be descending the hill near Pirate's Cove (Cave Landing) and taking the Bluff Trail back to our starting point. Please arrive early to stretch or find parking. ⚠️️ Rain cancels

Distance: about 3 miles
Elevation gain: about 700 feet
Pace: moderate to brisk at times

• Meet on the street near the fire access road off of Indio Drive in Shell Beach. There is usually street parking available at the end El Portal or Indio Drive. Please see map for more information .
• There is quite a bit of loose rock on the trail and a few very steep inclines. Wear shoes/boots with good tread.
• Trekking poles optional, but always recommended.
• Bring water and layers, depending on the weather.
• Leashed dogs always welcome 🐾
