Everyone today is talking about what AI can do.
This talk takes a more grounded, case study-based perspective, drawing on real-world experience from a DevOps engineer working in a New Zealand enterprise environment.
Last year, the speaker led the development and delivery of a token-based security feature from PoC to General Availability, working with real users and production constraints.
Along the way, AI was part of the journey, surfacing both opportunities and limitations that come with building software in an AI-assisted environment, from areas like testing, performance understanding, and debugging, where outcomes are not always as reliable or meaningful as they first appear.
This talk reflects on a broader question for engineers: in a world where AI can generate code quickly, where does engineering value actually lie?
Through this case study, let’s explore what AI is useful for in real engineering work, where it falls short, and what that means for engineering practice and career development.

这次我们请来了一位在新西兰企业里做 DevOps 的工程师，来聊聊他过去一年摸着石头过河的一些经历和踩过的坑。
去年他主导交付了一个基于 Token 的安全功能，从 PoC 一路跑到正式上线，全程在真实的企业环境里推进，上线后还得持续运维。AI 参与了整个过程，有帮上忙的地方，也有让人翻车的时候。那些看起来没问题的输出，回头一看未必靠谱。
在 AI 能快速生成代码的今天，我们作为工程师，价值究竟在哪里？这是他想和大家一起聊的问题。
