About us

Welcome to Wellington Mind, Matter & Meaning Book Club! - A book club exploring the biggest questions at the intersection of science, philosophy, psychology, and human experience.

What is the nature of reality? How did the universe begin? What is consciousness, and could it exist beyond the brain? Are we simply biological machines, or is there more to human experience than we currently understand? How do we make sense of questions around meaning, spirituality, morality, and our place in the cosmos?

Each month, we’ll explore thought-provoking books that examine the mysteries at the edges of human knowledge — from physics and cosmology to neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, religion, artificial intelligence, and the study of consciousness. We’ll discuss ideas ranging from the origins of the universe and the possibility of other forms of intelligence, to questions about the mind, perception, free will, and what it means to be human.

Our reading will include both established scientific thinkers and authors who challenge conventional assumptions, creating space for thoughtful discussion about fascinating questions where science, philosophy, and curiosity meet.

No specialist knowledge is required — just an open mind, a willingness to question, and an interest in exploring some of the most profound mysteries we face.
