WoRM aka The Wellington Running Meetup Group

Up to an hour, more or less hills, we choose. And it's off road so trail shoes are handy, particularly if there has been rain!
We break into 2-3 groups typically (depending on numbers) and run around the Mt Vic trails before heading to the summit for a group photo (7.10pm) and then heading back downhill to Panhead Bar for a beer (optional harbour dip on the way if weather is nice!).

GROUPS:
- 'Slowcial' - Slow and social! Perfect if this is your first time with us or you just want an easier paced run. A mix of running and walking to the top. Typically 5-7kms and around 200-250m of elevation.
- Medium Slow: Medium is too quick! Medium slow is perfect! Typically 6-8kms and 250m of elevation.
- Medium-Medium-Fast: A faster group or two is an option for those that want to stretch their legs out. Smaller in size but just as much fun (if you can handle it!). Typically 8-10kms and around 300m of elevation.

MARCH until SEPTEMBER is TORCH season so bring a light (unless you have night vision!)

The first Tuesday of each month is a "CAN CAN" run. We encourage you to bring a can (or non perishable food item) that we will donate to a charity and you can top up your running karma. You won't need to carry it on the run as it will be collected before the start.

All less active, inactive, bored, lazy, unfit, fit but couldn't care less, etc, runners... This is an easy mid-week run that aims to get you off the office chair or couch and get out there for a 40-ish minute flat-ish run around the bays.

We normally go to Balaena Bay and then head back via the gentle incline of Maida Vale Rd. If the wind is against us on the flat then the hill is actually easier than it seems, and ever since we began this run (27 July 2011!) we've had lots of testimonials of people who feared it, dared it, and nailed it!

Start and finish is outside the Freyberg Pool & Fitness Centre, 139 Oriental Parade (pinpointed here: https://goo.gl/maps/xEHeW7MhyaQ2). Total distance is about 5km.

This run is suitable for people who have run on the trail before and a bit of running fitness is required as we are going up hills. But don't worry if you think you'll be slow, no one is left behind and we always split into groups. We will be heading up into the hills on either side of the valley, some days up to Wrights hill, and some days to the skyline, and others to Makara peak, finally looping back to the pub by 7:45-8pm for the all-important burgers and beers at the Pickle Jar.

Slowcial group - usually 6-8km, plenty of stops for a breather and for people to catch up. Ideal group if you are a newbie.

Medium group - usually 8-10km, slightly quicker pace, stops for a breather and for people to catch up.

Fast group - usually 10-12km, pace depends on who's leading and the size of the group.

Trail shoes are recommend and
from April to September you'll require a head torch. The weather can be pretty changeable too so consider a rain jacket and something warm to change into for the pub.

Come and explore Hutt's trails by night. Each week we'll try one of many local trails - those more and those less travelled. Depending on the route, expect some hills (some weeks more than others) and a very relaxed pace.

Come prepared with at least a headtorch and a warm clothing layer. Recommended gear: hydration pack/belt, spare long sleeve base layer (wool or polyprop), rain proof jacket, beanie, gloves, basic first aid kit, emergency whistle, emergency survival bag.
