What we’re about

Do you have stress or pain? Are you looking for a way to live your life with more peace? One of the commonest causes of physical problems is underlying stress! What goes on in the mind influences the body!
Mindfulness meditation has been scientifically demonstrated to be helpful in stress, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, coping with cancer etc.

Wellness Through Mindfulness is a group that was created in September 2015 to provide teaching and practice in mindfulness and meditation. It is a secular group with no religious affiliation.  Previously we were offering our events at the Shaganappi Community Centre.  However, given our current gathering restrictions, we now have events online through zoom in partnership with the Calgary Public Library.

Events are every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 7:00 -8:30pm.  Events are free, but you will need a free library membership. You must register with the CPL for each event. A link will be posted with each notice.

If you miss the presentation you can view them later as all events are recorded and shared on our website at (wtm.thebreathproject.org).  There you will also find the current list of upcoming events as well as here on meetup.

These events are hosted by a group of dedicated practitioners who felt there was a need to help people who want some guidance with their pain and suffering. It is suitable for people of all levels of experience.  All the speakers are local who have a dedicated interest in the practice. If you have ever wanted to meditate come and learn with us and share in a welcoming community that is here to support your practice.  We hope you'll join us.

These sessions are provided strictly with the intention to provide education. It is not a forum intended to deal with specific personal issues one might have. Wellness Through Mindfulness and the participating speakers' content and presentations are not to be used as a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, or other professional advice by legal, medical, or other qualified professionals and that it is the participant's exclusive responsibility to seek such independent professional guidance as needed.
