A Mindful approach to emotions involves the development of the capacity to observe internal experiences with clarity and without immediate reactivity. Rather than suppressing or amplifying emotional states, mindfulness cultivates an intentional awareness of thoughts, bodily sensations, and affect as they arise in real time. This metacognitive stance cultivates the ability to enhance emotional regulation and support adaptive behavioral choices and enhance one's relationship with emotions —shifting from avoidance or over-identification toward acceptance and measured engagement.
We will explore what we can learn from emotions and how a mindful approach can be helpful in everyday life circumstances.
