This is a standard 5 day RYA Competent Crew course for begginers and novices. You will spend 5 days living aboard and covering a extended program. Cost is €675 and you will have your own cabin.
If you’ve not been sailing before and want to learn the basics, this is the course for you. You’ll stay on the yacht for the duration of the course and learn all about living aboard with your fellow crew members. We teach you how to stay safe, how to prepare the boat for sea and how to become an effective member of the crew. By the end of the course you’ll be surprised how much you’ve learnt and will have achieved the minimum pre-course requirement for the Day Skipper course, which is the next level up.
Suggested minimum pre-course requirement:
Course content: Basic seamanship & helmsmanship
Ability after course: Useful member of crew, being able to steer under motor and sail, keep a lookout, row a dingy, hoist and lower the sails and assist in emergency situations.
Minimum duration: 5 days
Minimum age: None
You will join the boat on Sunday evening and leave on Friday afternoon. There are not exams its an ongoing assesment, so no stress, just learning in a fun, active way.
Please note I will not be on board there are strict RYA rules that limit the assistance to 5 students per instructor.
Food, towels, bedding, tuition and books will be provided by the school.
The Sailing instructors have loads of experience and is a well stablished school.
