Details
Get ready for spring and insect photography with a trip to the Butterfly Haven at Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum!
The Nature Museum’s year-round indoor butterfly exhibit is an excellent way to practice photographing butterflies! I’ve visited this exhibit many times over the years, and I love the photos that I capture! (I’ve attached a photo from my trip there in March 2025.)
WHEN: Sunday, April 13th, 10am
We’ll meet when the museum opens at 10am.
COST:
Museum Entry - $15 ($16.50 after fees)
Parking - the easiest spot to park is in the Lincoln Park Zoo lot, but it costs $30
What to bring & expect:
- Your camera with a macro lens OR a longer range lens (100mm or more). A smartphone will also work too!
- The museum is a children’s museum - so tripods and flash are not allowed.
- The butterfly haven is basically a greenhouse and naturally lit by the sun, so dress with a couple layers.
- Also, there will be toddlers and parents and other kiddos, be respectful and remember the museum is for the kids first.
