# ๐Ÿ“ธ Golden Hour Photo Walk โ€” Tulip Season at Lilacia Park

Join us for an early morning photo walk through one of Chicagoland's most stunning spring showcases โ€” Lilacia Park during peak tulip season!
With over 35,000 tulips in full bloom, May 2nd is the sweet spot: tulips are at their most vibrant, the lilacs are just starting to open, and the soft morning light at 6:30 AM is pure magic for photography. We'll beat the weekend crowds and have the garden practically to ourselves.
Whether you're shooting with a DSLR, mirrorless, or your phone, this is an incredible opportunity to practice composition, depth of field, macro techniques, and working with natural light โ€” all surrounded by one of the most photogenic parks in the region.
---
## What to Expect
- A relaxed, self-paced walk through the park's tulip beds and early lilac displays
- Tips and informal feedback shared among the group
- A chance to explore different shooting angles, lighting conditions, and creative techniques
- Great company and great light!
---
## What to Bring
- Your camera, phone, or any shooting device you love
- A fully charged battery (and a spare if you have one!)
- Comfortable shoes โ€” we'll be walking on grass and paths
- A light jacket โ€” mornings in early May can be cool
- Water and a snack if you'd like
---
## Meeting Spot
We'll meet at the **main entrance on Park Avenue** (near the fountain). Look for the group gathering near the tulip beds just inside the gate.
---
## A Few Notes
- This is a free, casual meetup โ€” no registration fee, no pressure
- The event is weather-dependent. Watch this page for updates if there's rain in the forecast
- Bloom timing can vary year to year. Check the **Bloom-O-Meter** at http://www.lombardlilactime.com in the days leading up to our walk for the latest on peak bloom
- Parking is available on nearby streets and in the Park District lot
---
We can't wait to capture spring with you. See you at 6:30! ๐ŸŒท
