Weekend Trip - Lake District - Hike #1 Buttermere Loop
Details
Please ensure read the warnings in the weekends main event page here before signing up. People are welcome to join us for this hike only. No requirement to do hike #2.
Hike #1 - Buttermere Loop - Red Pike, High Stile, High Crag, Haystacks, Fleetwith Pike (5 Wainrights) - 10mi / 16km
Meet at the car park at Buttermere. There are toilets here if anyone needs before we set off.
We start by walking by the lake, ascend up through woodland and then ascend some more to a tarn. It is then up stone steps and then red iron soil to the top of Red Pike. We then go along the ridge to High Stile (highest point of the hike), then descend down High Crag, then down to Haystacks.
We then go down and and back up to the top of Fleetwith Pike for hopefully amazing views across the lake we started at. We then descend down to the road, follow it briefly to the lake and then walk alongside the lake all the way back to Buttermere.
