Cardio & Culture
Class Reminders: • Everyone is welcomed to attend class no matter your experience. • Children are always welcomed to come to class, either to dance or to sit and watch. Their fee is $5. If they are watching, we ask that they be seated behind the drummers and not run around to interfere with the flow of class. No fee for children who are watching. • Adults dance fee is $10. •For those adults who attend class but only watch, there is a $5 watchers fee. If you're watching class and your foot is tapping, you might as well be dancing. If you pay for the month at the beginning, class is $7 per class or $28/$35 depending on how many Thursday's are in the month. • We keep class economically priced for 2 reasons: We want you to have the experience of this cultural activity at a reasonable price and secondly & we want you to ALWAYS recognize the drummers for their hard work and dedication. Please don't take their attendance for granted. We ask that you try to make sure you always bring at least $1 for them as a donation. With that said my lovelies, we hope to see you Thursday.

This meetup is a traditional West African Dance class with live drumming. The class is entitled "Cardio & Culture" because not only are you moving and dancing, but you are learning the meanings of the dances and movements to provide you with a dash of culture.

The class is a mixture of strengthening exercises and traditional West African movement. Although the class is centered around dance, you do not need extensive dance experience. Students who have never danced a day in their life will be fine in class. All levels and ages of students are welcome to participate.

Students should wear comfortable clothes in which it is easy to move but are definitely encouraged to wear African dance attire including lapas for women and socatos for men. A lapa is a large piece of material wrapped around the waist and socatos are droop seated pants.

Come on out to Cardio & Culture and have a great time in this high energy celebration of African culture.
