Tai Chi is a physical and mental practice rooted in the philosophies of Taoism and Confucianism. It teaches one how to be in harmony with the world at large. Its emphasis is on letting go, as expressed by the ethical virtues of cultivating one's character, teaching patience, humility, and compassion for all things. It is also a practice teaching harmony with nature and an awareness of balance, both physical and mental. As a self-defense practice, it uses both moral restraint and a nonviolent approach to handling stressful situations in our everyday lives.

Arnold Breisblatt has been teaching Tai Chi and Self-Defense to various groups, including children with cerebral palsy and other special needs, adults, individuals with Parkinson’s disease, and residents in assisted living. His teaching style is a humanistic approach that encourages the release of physical blockages that prevent us from developing a clear understanding of our true nature and how we respond to others.
