Mount Beacon, Scofield Ridge, Lambs Hill and Rainbow Fall

Fast paced, that is appropriate with the terrain!

The Casino, Fire Tower, Scofield Ridge, Lambs Hill, and Rainbow Falls loop is a challenging 8-mile hike in the Hudson Highlands, offering significant elevation gain. There are panoramic views from the fire tower, and scenic features like Casino Ruins, Dozer Junction, and Rainbow Falls. There will be several brief stops at viewpoints. On a clear day, we should have great views of the Hudson River and some distant locations, such as Minnewaska, Mohonk, the Catskill Mountains, and possibly NYC. Hikers should be prepared for steep sections and rocky terrain. This is a classic Hudson Highlands hike.

2.5 mph hills, 2.7 on flats and moderate descents
Rough/rolling rock sections (20 percent of the hike)
Limited brief stops and no long lunch (too cold out)

2.1 miles on the red Casino trail
.6 miles, up and back down, on the white Breakneck Ridge trail
.25 miles on the red Casino trail
1.95 miles on the yellow Wilkinson Memorial trail
.3 miles on the blue connector trail to Dozer Junction
1.55 miles on the white Fishkill Ridge trail
.8 on the yellow connector trail
.45 miles down the red Casino trail and back to the cars
