Nuclear Lake, Cat Rocks and the Beekman Uplands Trail

You are invited to join us for a moderate 10-mile hike with about 1200-feet elevation gain. This hike will take about 6 hours.
We will meet at 8:30 for a prompt 8:45 AM departure; 156 Old Route 55, Pawling, NY 12564; GPS: 41.58566, -73.65306 .
From the parking lot, we will follow a woods road to the southern end of Nuclear Lake. We will take the trail around the east side of the lake until we reach the Appalachian Trail. The AT continues uphill for another couple of miles until we reach the outcrop of Cat Rocks for a panoramic view of the fields below. From Cat Rocks, we will begin our return along the AT until we reach the Beekman Uplands Trail a much less traveled path than the AT. The Beekman Trail reconnects with the AT after about 2 miles. Once we are back on the AT, we will head north to the Nuclear Lake Loop, back to the woods road and the parking lot.
NOTE: This hike is in the vicinity of the Pawling Mountain Club, and there may be members shooting at the club.

Bring appropriate gear including a light/headlamp, micro-spikes, snowshoes, food, and water. Review/bring your map to be aware of topography and our location.

If Unable to Attend: Please cancel at least 48 hours prior to the event, so people on the waitlist can attend. If on the day of the event, you cannot make it, please take your name off the going list. Not attending hikers will be marked as “No-Show.” People with multiple “No-Show” will not be allowed on future hikes. Thanks....
