Minnewaska: Awosting Falls to Rainbow Falls

You are invited to meet at 9:00 for a 9:15 AM start. Recommend arriving at 8:30 AM to wait on line as the park opens at 9:00. Entry to park is $10 per car; free with the Empire Park Pass.
A moderate strenuous 11-mile hike with about 1400-feet elevation gain. This hike will take about 6 hours.
Lower lot at Lake Minnewaska, 5281 Route 44-55, Kerhonkson, NY 12466. GPS: 41.73531,-74.23892.
Situated in the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We will be seeing nature’s waterfalls, sky lakes, hardwood forest, sheering cliffs and ledges with beautiful views. Most of the hike will be on carriage trails. The general course of the hike is Gatehouse parking to Awosting Falls to (O) Sunset Circle to (R) Lake Minnewaska Carriage to (Y) Hamilton Point Carriage to (V) Rock Scramble to Castle Point to (B) Castle Point Carriage to (O) Rainbow Falls to (BK) Lower Awosting Carriage to Gatehouse parking.

Bring appropriate gear including a light/headlamp, micro-spikes, snowshoes, food, and water. Review/bring your map to be aware of topography and our location.

If on the day of the event, you cannot make it, please take your name off the going list.
