UCSC Saturday Steeps - Advanced / B Pace
Details
Let's tackle some of the best trails in the area, in what look to be fantastic conditions! Might be a bit less crowded Saturday given Sea Otter is this weekend.
This would be a good chance for advanced riders not familiar with UCSC to get to know the area.
Start Time
We assemble at 8:15 and we leave the parking lot at 8:30. This ride leaves on time with no exceptions, so please err on the side of arriving early. Once the ride starts, we ride as a group, together. We will regroup at every trail intersection.
Skill Level
This ride is for advanced riders, as unavoidable steep chutes, drops, and obstacles exist on these trails. In fact, they're kinda the point. ๐
If we've not ridden together previously, I may reach out in DM. I just need to take care that the group is as safe as can be. ๐
Full face helmet and pads are strongly recommended.
Pace
This is a B paced ride. We're not racing up the hills, but you should be able to do 3-5 laps on Pogonip.
The Route
We'll be doing laps from Rincon, with Dusty's, Cobb, Hero, Pastrami, and Hillbilly as some options on the Highway 9 side, and we'll probably finish out over by Magic, Leafy Flow, Dark Monster, and we'll take Goat down to the road and out. Here's a Strava of a similar day out
Distance / Climbing
12-14 Miles, 2500 - 2800 feet. Mostly these are shorter Rincon laps, so riders have the option to bail at any point and get back to the parking lot. I'm usually the first to drop out. ๐
Parking
I'll be driving a black Chevy Silverado truck. I usually park a bit before the Rincon lot on the roadside. Please assemble at the truck.
Please do not bring guests
Want to bring a friend? Super! Just have 'em sign up for WCMB and register for the ride. Group size is capped for good reason, and we have no legal protection for riders not registered. I will refuse un-registered riders at the trailhead.
All of our rides require a helmet and properly maintained mountain bike. Bring your own tools, pump, extra tubes, water, and nutrition.
Riders should be sure to read the description of the ride fully prior to their RSVP. Rides will vary by location and organizer, so be sure to sign up for rides that are appropriate for your skill and fitness level. If unsure if an event is appropriate, contact the event host prior to the event. If you have an existing medical condition please consult your doctor prior to joining an event.
[Meetup.com](http://meetup.com/) and West Coast Mountain Bikers do not allow minors to attend events.
