Hike in Rabbit Valley to "Long Neck"
Details
This will be a mostly off-trail hike of about 6 miles starting in Rabbit Valley not far from the corral that is east of the main I-70 exit.
This hike will go up and down and then drop considerably to a long narrow rock peninsula. We'll be scrambling over uneven terrain and over some boulders. We'll aim to follow the same route on the way back. So lots of ups and downs in total.
Hiking poles might be helpful.
We will have some great views of the Colorado River and beyond! Please bring water, energy snacks and lunch. Hiking poles can be helpful and please have spare shoes at the vehicles to change out of your boots in case our boots get muddy especially as we may encounter some bentonite mud.
Friendly well-behaved dogs are welcome to come along. You might want a leash for your dog when we get close to the cliff edge.
End time listed is only included to satisfy Meetup - we may finish earlier or later.
At the Dinosaur Journey Museum, please park over by the dog park area, as in away from the doors to the museum.
