What we’re about
This group is for adults living in Orewa, Silverdale, Millwater, Milldale, the Hibiscus Coast, Whangaparaoa and surrounding areas or who have ties to this region. It is a social group of mixed ages (mainly 40s +), of people who like getting out and about in our neck of the woods. Singles and couples all welcome. We aim to offer a mixture of events including walks, brunches, dinners and expeditions to local attractions. We are a welcoming group so come along and join us.
Any plus 1’s to rsvp’s should be over 18 years old unless the event specifically notes it as ‘family friendly’ and suitable for children.
We also welcome suggestions for future events.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Warkworth Walk And Lunch at Historic PubIntersection of Earls way and Southgate Road, Warkworth
Join us as we do a walk around Warkworth .
Our group members and Warkworth local residents Chris and Sabine will lead us for this walk.
It includes native bush, historic ruins and river views etc.(Once we finish for those that wish to, we will retire to the historic Bridge House Lodge & Bar for a lunch, snacks, coffee, wine or a beer)
The walk will lead us from Alnwick Street to Parry Kauri Park to view a 900 year old kauri tree. There's also a museum that has some interesting things to look at outside.
From there, we head to the old Wilsons Cement Works and then to the local picturesque boat yard beside the Mahurangi River.
The ruins at the Cement Works would make an ideal location for a horror movie given that they burned down in the 1930s leaving the stark black silhouettes standing ominously in the landscape.....
Another feature of this walk is that we will walk through an aisle where a resident has created an alleyway lined with Roses .
This will be a good day out and pleasant relaxing walk.
There are some photo's below to inspire you to join us.
