The river Wharfe stretches from Langstrothdale above Buckden to meet the river Ouse near Cawood. Over a distance of 60 miles, it passes through some of the most beautiful parts of Yorkshire. Our mission is to explore as much of it as we can.

Maybe you’re already an experienced walker and want to meet new people. Maybe you’re new or returning to walking and want to improve your fitness and stamina. We’re a group of friends who walk for pleasure. We offer a variety of walks at different levels, predominately but not exclusively, in and around the Wharfe Valley.

New members are always welcome. Whether your Yorkshire born and bred or new to the area, come and see the fantastic scenery that Yorkshire has to offer. We walk all year round and in all but the most extreme of weather. Events will only be cancelled if they are deemed to be dangerous or if the day would be a totally unpleasant experience due to weather.

After many years of raising my family, I started walking again in 2011. Joining a walking group gave me new fitness challenges and new friends to motivate me. I lost weight, improved my health, rebuilt my confidence and self-esteem and made some very good friends. We want to offer you the same opportunities. Please don't worry about coming along by yourself for the first time. We've all been in the same position.

Please note - our event hosts don't have any formal walk-leader qualifications. We do recce our walks to make sure the route is safe for a group and to enable us to give you an accurate description of the event. We’re a not for profit group. We ask for a donation of £1 per walk to cover meetup site fees and travel costs, any remaining funds are donated to The Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association

You remain responsible for your own safety at all times.

We hope to see you on a walk soon
