Enjoy witty comedies and uplifting movies, especially when the two go hand in hand? Like them on the big screen every now and then? Then this is your group.
The movies: A very broad range of what’s witty and heart-warming, with other genres in the mix. From clever to sweet, from indie to mainstream, classics, fresh finds or hidden gems — but always with style. Usually original language versions, ideally with subtitles. Suggestions are welcome. Days, times, and cinemas vary.
After the movie, we wipe away our tears ;-) and those who feel like can head somewhere nearby for a drink and a relaxed after-movie chat.
You don’t need to be a chatty person to come along, introverts are just as welcome as anyone else. There is also no need to know anything about filmmaking. It’s not a discussion group — we simply enjoy good movies. We speak English or German, or whatever works for you at the time.
This is a new, friendly, respectful group of movie lovers. The group is private so that only members can see who comes to an event. This is about enjoying a movie together, not about wanting to meet someone with a pretty profile photo. It’s a proper old-school Meetup group — non-commercial, just to share some fun.
Everyone takes care of their own movie ticket.
When you request to join, please answer a few short questions about what draws you to the group. One of them is about witty or heart-warming movies you’ve enjoyed, and it helps if you mention a few. They can be anything from old classics to current picks, famous or not, liked by many or few. If you don't know the titles, just tell us the plots or who’s in there. Or describe them to some AI, so it can work the titles out for you ;-)
