It’s the perfect chance to dive back into the fun if you haven’t been in a while. We’re heading to 650 Perry Park Ave, Larkspur, CO 80118, where the festival runs from 10 AM to 6:30 PM, rain or shine (check www.coloradorenaissance.com for details). Meet at Frances Farr’s house at 9 AM to carpool—it’s just 21 miles or 26 minutes away—or join us at the festival gates. Tickets are a steal at $29 at King Soopers’ customer service desk (while supplies last), $30.50 online via Etix to skip lines, or grab a buy-one-get-one-free deal at the box office if you’re a first responder with ID. Be careful online tickets may not be available, but in person tickets at King Soopers and the box office at the fair will remain. Feast on turkey legs and sweets, explore acres of artisan stalls with swords, jewelry, costumes, and more, and soak in the vibes with acrobats, jousters, fire breathers, and royal proclamations that whisk you back in time. Dress up (costume rentals available), but leave pets, outside drinks, and unsheathed costume weapons at home—swords and daggers need a peace tie for safety.
