A Most Splendid Evening: Cinema with Downton Abbey

A Proper Outing: Chili’s Fare and the Crawleys’ Grand Finale! Tuesday, September 16 will be a jolly fine evening indeed as we gather for dinner and a picture show in true Downton Abbey spirit. We’ll meet at Chili’s Grill & Bar (1304 Interquest Pkwy, Colorado Springs) at 5:30 PM for a proper sit-down meal. The “3 for Me” menu offers remarkable value beginning at $10.99, including starter, main, and drink—the Classic Sirloin with garlic butter and steamed broccoli is especially recommended. At 7:20 PM sharp, we shall make our way to Icon Cinema (1818 Spring Water Pt) for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (PG, 2h 3m). Tickets are a modest $6.55. Attending this prestigious event, so far, are Frances, John, Jeannie Boyer and Noriko Carnes. Our group will be seated together in Row E (though two centre seats were previously taken). Kindly text John or Frances to reserve your ticket and bring payment to Chili’s before 6:00 PM sharp. Unclaimed tickets will be returned for credit. Icon permits returns up to one hour prior for a refund. Suggested attire—though entirely optional—is to dress as one would for a proper 1930s supper or cinema outing. Ladies may take inspiration from Lady Mary’s satin gowns or Lady Edith’s elegant frocks, while gentlemen might don a jacket and tie. It is all in good fun, so feel free to join the spirit of the thing. Chili’s will provide ample fare, but do leave a corner for Icon’s bottomless popcorn and refillable drinks, a most extravagant luxury. Do note, this is a dry gathering—please refrain from alcohol.
