Hanukkah Begins: Candle Lighting and House of David Gathering
First Night of Hanukkah and December 14 House of David Event. Join us this Sunday, December 14, as we celebrate the first night of Hanukkah and our House of David Dinner and Movie Night. Hanukkah runs December 14–22, and we will light the first candle at sunset, precisely at 4:38 PM. We will play Shalom Jerusalem as background music. Anyone who would like to come early is welcome to arrive between 2 PM and 2:25 PM with chips, dips, or snacks to enjoy while watching the Broncos vs. Green Bay game on CBS, a home game at Mile High Field. Forged in Faith: House of David Night continues with Season 2, Episode 6, “Forged in Fire,” where King Saul commands David to prove his loyalty by destroying a Philistine forge and defeating one hundred men to win the hand of Mychal. We meet at 4:44 PM, pray at 5:15 PM, and enjoy Mary Me Chicken prepared by Frances and John.
Devorah Phillipe is bringing falafels with tzatziki sauce.
Hot spiced apple cider (Battle Brew) and wedding cookies will be served before the movie. Please bring a salad, side, snack, or 7.5-ounce non-alcoholic drink to share; water is provided. Before the movie we will have raspberry cheesecake for Heidi Hopkins Wheeler’s birthday. Weather permitting, we will close the night with s’mores by the fire pit around 9:30 PM. This is a dry gathering. For the address and gate code, text John at 719-351-7913 or Frances at 541-219-2713
