Miracle on Ice Dinner & Movie Night
Olympic Gold Highlights & Heart-Pounding Drama
Sunday Gathering: Meatballs, Polenta & Patriotic Pride
Join us Sunday, February 22, at Frances Farr’s home for a fun and meaningful Dinner and Movie Night celebrating the spirit of the 1980 Miracle on Ice. Arrive by 4:44 PM to settle in. We’ll pray and eat at 5:15 PM with Frances and John providing Milan meatballs and creamy polenta—bring a salad, side, or snack to go with (no desserts, please). We’ll also have water bottles; bring individual sparkling drinks without sugar or fake sugar. Before the movie, we’ll watch highlights from today’s men’s ice hockey gold-medal game (Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena, 8:10 a.m. ET). Then celebrate Rick Morley‘s (Feb 20) birthday with carrot cake and Kate Giesecke’s birthday (Feb 21) with a moist apple cake. At 6:45 PM, we’ll watch Miracle (PG, 2004 Sport/Drama, 2h 15m) starring Kurt Russell as coach Herb Brooks, who unites a team of college all-stars to defeat the mighty Soviet team and win Olympic gold, inspiring American patriotism during the Cold War. The evening wraps up around 9:30 PM. This is a dry gathering—no alcohol. Text John at (719) 351-7913 or Frances at (541) 219-2713 for the address and gate code. All are welcome—hope to see you cheering for the underdog!
