AI is moving quickly. The harder questions aren’t only about what the technology can do, but about what we want to do with it.

For this quarterly meeting of the Wichita AI Club, David Cochran and Bekah Selby Leach will share the work taking shape through the Newman Institute for AI & the Common Good and invite the group into a larger conversation about the direction of AI in our workplaces, organizations, and community.

A central question will guide the evening: Can we adopt AI in ways that protect and foster human dignity, human flourishing, meaningful work, and the common good? If so, what does that actually require of the people and organizations adopting it?

We’ll also hear about new workshops and bootcamps being developed by the Institute, along with opportunities for businesses, nonprofits, educators, and other organizations to partner with its work. The aim is not simply to talk about responsible AI in the abstract, but to explore what these ideas look like when people have real decisions to make about technology, work, and organizational life.

And as always, we’ll leave room for open discussion. The Wichita AI Club is meant to be a place where people from across the community can bring different experiences and perspectives, ask difficult questions, and learn from one another.

You don’t need to work in AI to participate. If these questions matter to you or your organization, you’re welcome in the conversation.

Come join the monthly meeting of the AI Superusers Group. This meeting is expressly designed for those with intermediate to advanced AI experience, knowledge, and/or organizational leadership responsibility.

We will adapt to recent developments, but we anticipate a combination of these discussion items:

1. Grokbot, Omarchy, and other recent AI innovations
2. New open source AI initiatives from NVIDIA, Thinking Machines, etc.
3. How do we pursue, foster, and encourage human-first principles and practices for ourselves and our organizations?

We will meet on the Newman University Campus. Meet, greet, ask questions, share successes, nerd out, all the good stuff. This meeting will happen directly after the 5:30 Wichita AI Club meeting, and will meet in the the same room.

The AI Users Group is a monthly gathering for people who want to get more comfortable using AI in their work and everyday lives.

You don’t need to be an AI expert, programmer, or technical professional. If you’ve been experimenting with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or other AI tools, or you’re simply curious about what they can actually do, this is a place to learn alongside other people doing the same.

We’ll talk about what people are trying, what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s changed since we last met. Bring your questions, interesting things you’ve discovered, problems you’re trying to solve, or something you’d like help figuring out. Members with more AI experience will also be around to help answer questions and share what they’ve learned.

Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve already found a few ways AI is useful to you, you’re welcome. Come meet people, compare notes, experiment, and leave knowing a little more than you did when you arrived.
