Learning about local history, specifically about the Battle of San Pasqual. Join those interested in military history and fellow Wikimedians, as we tour locations related to the 1846 Battle of San Pasqual ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_San_Pasqual ). This will be similar to a staff ride event ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staff_ride ). We will start the day at a park named after an Army scout to carpool to the starting point off the staff ride, Warner's Ranch. Then we will travel the route of the Army of the West through Pasqual Valley (stopping by San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park), before going to south Escondido to the San Dieguito River Park and hike the Mule Hill Trail. Wear comfortable clothing, and good hiking shoes. Before the event, it is suggested that one acquaint themselves with the battle by reading through the sources utilized on the Wikipedia page, including (but not limited to) the 1921 book by Coy, the California State Military Museum page on the battle, and the article published about the battle from the U.S. Army's Center of Military History.
