About us
This meetup is for people who are interested in conservation of wild public lands, hiking, and volunteer projects such as restoration.
Wild Connections protects and restores wild nature and public lands across the watersheds of the Arkansas and South Platte Rivers in central Colorado. We recognize these as the ancestral lands of the Ute, Cheyenne, Arapaho and other indigenous peoples.
Connecting Wildernesses and roadless areas in a landscape-wide wildlands network across the central Rockies benefits migratory animals, rare plant communities, clean water resources for urban and mountain communities , local economies, quiet recreation, historic and cultural locations, scenic vistas and spiritual values.

Volunteer Seeding Restoration Project at the FS Puma Hills Roadless Area
Location not specified yetNote, this event is posted on multiple forums so you must contact the project coordinator, John, directly by phone or e-mail to register.
Wild Connections is excited to announce our rescheduled Puma Hills Volunteer Restoration Project, in partnership with the Forest Service’s South Park Ranger District.
The project site is located just a few minutes north of Elevenmile Canyon Reservoir and south of US-24 in South Park. It lies about half a mile north of our 2024 Puma Hills Roadless Area seeding restoration project, where we successfully closed approximately 2.5 miles of illegal routes into the 8,800-acre Roadless Area.
During this project, volunteers will install one-third mile of wildlife-friendly fencing along a Forest Service/BLM property boundary that experiences frequent illegal motorized trespass. We will also seed and restore unauthorized routes entering this portion of the Roadless Area. The Forest Service will prepare the site in advance.
In addition to supporting elk, pronghorn, and mule deer, the Puma Hills Roadless Area provides important nesting habitat for American peregrine falcons and production areas for wild turkey.
No experience necessary!
Sorry, no dogs allowed. A carpool or caravan from Colorado Springs will be coordinated.
For details or to sign up, contact John Sztukowski at 817-939-4239 or john@wildconnections.org.
