Women’s Federation Forest Hike, Pike-San Isabel National Forest

Details
Note, this hike has limited space and is posted on multiple forums so you MUST contact the trip leader, Jim, directly by phone or e-mail to register.
Join us for a hike in a corner of Pike National Forest north of Divide, Colorado. We’ll visit an area donated to the National Forest to provide public access, which is used both by both motorized and non-motorized recreationists.
We will discuss the value of the area as both access to the National Forest and as a wildlife corridor, together with the potential impact of proposals to sell off federal lands in the vicinity of communities. We will also discuss some of the conflicts and concerns that multiple-use causes.
This easy hike will be approximately 5 miles with 200 feet elevation gain along network of backcountry roads and foot trails. Bring lunch, water, rain-gear, and clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
For more trip and carpool information and to register, contact Jim Lockhart, 719-385-0045 or jlock@datawest.net.
