- Tommy Thompson Trail in Anacortes - 6+ miles all flatR Avenue & 22nd Street, Anacortes, WA
A flat 3.3 miles each way on blacktop trail that starts at The Port of Anacortes and ends at March Point near the Refineries. We walk over a long bridge to cross Fidalgo Bay.
Views of Mount Baker, Fidalgo Bay, Guemes Island, and blue herons, especially when tides are low. Be ready for bicycles and walkers on a Saturday. Can be windy too!
Restrooms at the start point.
Dogs allowed.
Carpoolers meet at Starbucks parking lot off I-5 at Fairhaven Parkway at 7:45 (I know - an early day, but summer means more crowds I am trying to beat)Who was Tommy Thompson? Actually, there were two, father and son. The father was a distinguished oceanographer, and the son was a railroad buff and local mechanical engineer. Join the Surrey Trekkers, a BC walking group, in Cloverdale neighborhood. (photo is from downtown Cloverdale).
We leave at 10 am sharp, so we will meet in Ferndale at McDonalds parking lot at 9 am to carpool. Bring your enhanced ID or passport!
The walk will go to Millennium Park Amphitheater - in Surrey - where Canada Day Celebrations will be taking place.
