Unleash Your Musical Genius
Elemental Wellness, 360 W Broadway #102, Salt Lake City, UT, USThis is an invitation for musicians of any level and any instrument who desire to play with more freedom, more expression, and less self-interference.
If you’re experiencing self-doubt, tension, or even pain when you’re practicing or performing, this is for you.
I’m Lara Wilde, and I'll be teaching a hands-on workshop that explores how the mind and the body work together to create your experience with your instrument.
I’m not a professional musician or a music teacher. I’m a Mind and Movement Coach and Alexander Technique Teacher and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned about the mind-body connection with other musicians.
Ever since I was a young child I wanted to sing and play guitar, so when I was forty years old and my girls were begging to play the violin, I took advantage of the opportunity to learn with them. Then a couple years later I bought a guitar and thought my dream was finally coming true.
However, I couldn't make any real progress with the violin or guitar, no matter how hard I tried, and I didn’t know why.
In fact, the more I practiced, the worse things got. My fingers simply wouldn’t do what I wanted them to do and I developed pain in my neck, shoulders and back that became so severe I was forced to give up playing altogether. I figured this was just never going to happen for me.
If you are experiencing tension, pain or a plateau with your instrument, maybe you can relate to my frustration and disappointment.
Five years ago I had the opportunity to begin studying the Alexander Technique and learned that the tension, pain, and limits I was experiencing wasn’t a defect, it was something I was doing. This was life changing news because it meant I also had the power to undo it.
Thanks to tuning into how I use my body with the Alexander Technique, I am able to play again without pain, and my fingers can move easier and faster than I thought would ever be possible for me.
If you would like to see what’s possible for you beyond your current limitations, here are a few things we're going to explore together:
- Why trying to do something right can actually get in the way of doing it well
- How you are connecting and moving with your instrument
- How to interrupt the habitual underlying patterns of muscular tension that are keeping you from your own reservoir of potential
- Developing a new quality of awareness of yourself and your instrument so you can play with greater musicality and enjoyment
Whether you’re a professional musician, a teacher, or you just started playing, if you’re curious about the relationship between your mind, body and your music, you’ll go home with a new self awareness and some tools you can start using right away to find your own inner freedom.
If you’re ready to stop working against yourself and start accessing your inner genius, we’d love to have you join us for this transformational workshop.
