Details & Itinerary:
Fifth Water is a popular hike so it can be crowded and parking can be difficult, which is why we are going on a weekday morning.

The hike is moderately difficult, approximately 3.3 miles round trip, with a 636 elevation gain. The first mile is on the road from the parking lot to the trailhead. See Alltrails for more information.

You are responsible for your own travel, parking, gear, food, hydration, health, and safety.

It would be enjoyable to travel together if someone has a larger vehicle and is a conscientious driver. However, driving separately is recommended if you might want to leave earlier or stay later than the group consensus.

Times Are Approximate
We cannot predict the future but we'll all do our best to follow the schedule.

  • 8:00 am - Meet at Murray Station (plan to arrive a few minutes early) If you live south of Murray let us know and maybe we can meet you somewhere along the way
  • 8:15 am - Leaving promptly
  • 9:00 - Pit stop at Maverick in Spanish Fork
  • 9:30 - Arrive at Diamond Fork parking lot
  • 11:00 - Arrive at the hot springs
  • 2:00-3:00 - Hiking back whenever people are ready
  • 5:00-6:00 pm - Arrive at Murray Station

You Will Need:

  • Warm coat, raincoat, gloves, hat and other protective clothing as needed
  • Hiking shoes or boots
  • Everyone must have spikes to be able to hike with our group. It's too slow and dangerous without them.
  • Soaking attire including a hat to keep rain or snow out of your face
  • Hair tie, sunglasses, sunscreen, bandana
  • Water shoes, sandals or flip flops recommended
  • Towel
  • Dry clothes to change into
  • Extra pair of dry socks
  • Plastic garbage bag to keep your gear dry while soaking (anything sitting around the hot springs will be wet from the steam)
  • The bag will also be useful to store garbage and wet items on the trip home
  • At least two quarts of water for several hours of soaking
  • Electrolytes or real salt are recommended to add to your water
  • Meals and snacks
  • Lotion for dry skin
  • First aide kit
  • Walkie talkie if you have one
  • Headlamp in case of emergency

Notice: Everyone is invited to participate at their own pace. Please come as you are. Stay as long as you like. Take care of yourself and each other.
