Tuesday Moderate Hikers: Trolls and Terranea

Join us on a moderate two-part event in Palos Verde. In the first part, we will tour the South Coast Botanic Garden on a hunt for the Thomas Dambo Trolls ($12 fee required).

After our Gardens tour, we will head over to the Filorum Reserve Trailhead and hike through the Three Sisters Reserve with views of the Palos Verde shoreline, lunch with a walk along the Terranea Trails, and then a climb back to the trailhead. This is a moderate five-mile, 1200 gain front country hike.

Meet at the gardens at 9:00 AM. From the 405 Freeway take the Crenshaw exit and drive 6.2 miles south to the gardens (26300 Crenshaw Blvd, Palos Verdes Estates). Parking is free at the gardens.

We will leave the South Coast Botanic Gardens around 11:00 AM. We will thenhead over to Filorum Reserve Trailhead (6264 Ocean Terrace Dr, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275). Use the location provided in the map below for the hike trailhead.

To get to the trailhead from the South Coast Botanic Gardens continue south on Crenshaw Boulevard another 2.4 miles, make a right on Crest Road and go 0.6 miles, and then a quick left on Highbridge Road followed by a quick right on Ocean Terrace Drive. Free parking available at the end of the Ocean Terrace Drive cul-de-sac.
